Plain Jane Seymour

Here are some photos of my restyled Jane Seymour, the third wife of Henry VIII from my private collection. You can see a small gallery of photos here. Jane is a Tonner Club Jane doll with wheat blonde hair, still in the pony tail, since it seems to work well with the English hood of the time. I still need to put the rest in a hair net, however.

The gown is a one-of-a-kind creation by a friend of mine, an expert seamstress named Jen Eugley. I am trying to talk her into sewing for Tonner dolls on a regular basis--contact me if you want more info, and I will pass your info along to her. She does a fantastic job. The gown is completely lined--even the sleeves--as well as both the full underskirt and split overskirt.

She used silk dupioni in shell pink and ivory for the gown and for the front of the headpiece. The lower sleeves and veil are made from chiffon. There is hand-beaded detail on the gown bodice and headpiece. The gown closes in the back with two hook and eye closures and a snap for security. The silk is just lovely--it almost glows, and certainly makes Henry's other wives a bit jealous.
